28 Days Connection First Journey
Day 4, Imitation
Using our body to relive stories is a powerful way to engage with connection. Today we will look at imitation.
Good day my dear Friends,
Here is something I really enjoy. Especially with the children, but also with the adults. It is a game in which we all become foxes.
I lead this part for the others when I’m in a group:
“Imagine how hair grows on the back of your hand, very fine and slightly reddish brown, the hair grows out of all your pores all over your body, your nose grows longer, your ears become more pointed, you start feel the pull to walk on all fours legs, a long light bushy tail grows behind me.
And already I feel like I want to go to discover what my nose has picked up. I smell what's in the air and hope there's something to find that I can eat. I mark my territory. Play with the other Foxes. Roll myself up for a nap with my tail wrapped around me.”
You get the picture. It is so fun to watch a group of people who have just become puppies or perhaps elephants.
Discover the world from the perspective of a local animal in your area.
I would like to ask the parents to go first and show their children what to do, they will be very happy and you will discover the world in a new way. And, remember, that the children are watching the adults and older children to see what they model before they feel safe to do the same. This is something that our Bushman friends taught us. It really works, and it’s really important to remember: parents and “grown-ups” remember what it means to be a child and show them how! This is no time for self-conscious shyness!!!
It's about experiencing something and then giving it back through your body.
Tell a friend or family member how it was for you when you walked through the garden / forest as an animal today. It can also be a mime game. This can also be woven into storytelling as well. Bring it together the way that feels best to you.
Ideas for your journal:
What was easy for you to relive?
How did it feel to relive? What kind of energy was generated in you and others?
How did the forest smell when you were a dog?
Could you see better when you became the red tailed hawk?
Have fun telling stories, acting and playing. Remember Fun means Connection is working!
This something to weave into all story sharing circles and conversations in the future, just as gratitude and awakening senses follows us through this entire journey.
We look forward to your comments in the forum: https://www.jonyoung.online/forum/day-4/day-4-imitation
May you enjoy an eventful day.
With finest loving blessings,
Michi and Jon
Just a little feedback on this one, I had wonderful messages of a grandmother imitating a crane alone in her yard (and saying how she liked it), a family becoming foxes hunting in the woods and even a video of two little budding foxes catching birds. For my family we ended up the four of us (my 4 years old boy, my 1 year old daughter, my wife and I) rolled up as a pack in the sun. Nice times...
ps: this afternoon, it was not dogwood, it's hornbean, I mix their name in english...
Wow, that is so cool. That you are translating it into French. Wonderful,
Love to hear that you share your sitspot time with your daughter.
Fine greetings from sunny Suisse -Land.
Michi
Hello,
I am right now sitting in the woods, a mixed wood with pines and oaks, dogwoog and alisier (dont know the name in English) mainly, there is only leaves on dogwood yet, small ones. My one year old daughter is sleeping on me. The sun is warming us and there is a tiny smell of pine sometimes. I'm listening to the pinson and the Mésange huppée. I don't see the Mésange huppée yet but I hope I'll see her before I leave, she's the punk of this wood!
Thanks again for this journey. I currently translate/adapt in French your post/podcast for a group of friends and family, with WhatsApp. Most of them are not aware of any 8shield stuff. It's very fun. 14 people are in the group. It's our 4th day today, and until now there is about 5 or 6 stories everyday (out of the same 8 or 9 persons for now). I tried my best to motivate people for today's activity, I am really looking forward to read if people adhered to today's proposal! And some actually imitate an animal!
All the best from my little place.
Hi! Thank you so much! We have a Whatsapp Group to Connection First, and ylao a group to talk about our experiences with it. Very connecting things happened. A friend of us found young girls sitting on her sit spot. She used the chance and began to do the connection first- welcoming, talking circle, sense meditation... and now they meet frequently.
We are connecting with people, too, which whome we didn't have contact for a long time. And all people are so thankful for the program.
And me personally, after a long time of grieving in the connection jorney, the conversation with you, Michi, when we met in the hut, with the woodrunners, that you SAW my griev, now its so much released and I love to go to the sitspot here in Stonemountain!
